Kimmies coloring page

Hey there my crafty friends.  Happy Saturday!!!  Every once in a while I get an itch to do something different.  That is what this weeks project is.  Altered Art including a ScrappyDew digital file.  A little background to this story...

Back in November, Costco was selling adult coloring books.  I was doing my happy dance.  Stuck one in the buggy, got my other groceries, and headed to my favorite duo to check out.  Kimmie was boxing my items up and saw that I had a coloring book.  Out of the blue, she asked me to color her a picture.  I said sure but don't expect it before Christmas.

So that is the back story.  I used my fantastic Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers to color the Owls.  The owls can be found at many craft stores and even online.  So 1st, lets get the lyrics out of the way...

*Creative Haven Owls Coloring Book by Marjorie Sarnat
*Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers
     (all colors used---CT2,LV1,IB3,LG5,CR7,CR1,TB2,OR2,FS9,CR11,OR3,BP5,
       CG2,GB7,BT7,TN8)
*Prismacolor Colored Pencils
     (PC 918 and PC 912)
*ScrappyDew Digital File Spring Owls
*Apple Barrel Paint Real Green (for frame)
*Dollar Store
Willow Wreath and 8x10 picture frame in white
*My simply fabulous Silver Bullet Pro 24" cutter
*The amazing program Sure Cuts A Lot V.4
* Miscellaneous tools and glue to put the whole project together!

The first step of this altered art project was to photo copy the original coloring page.  I have found that using a lazer printer for this is the best.  The ink doesn't smudge while coloring.  The coloring took about a week. Here is a pic of the final coloring page.

My finished owls.  I did make a black border
around the edges.
Next came dressing up the plain white frame from Dollar Store.  I bought at Wally's World some acrylic paint called real green.  It only took 3 coats.  Easy Peasy!  Then I had spotted a Willow Wreath at the dollar store.  I unwound the wreath and picked out pieces I thought would look good.  Got my handy dandy hot glue gun out and really glued those branches down.

The next phase was making the ScrappyDew Digital File Spring Owls.  I made the view 2 and one extra branch without owl.  Wove these into the willow branches.  And here is how it all turned out.
Totally complete

I just love the way this turned out.  I gave it to Kimmie on Wed, 2-10-16.  She was working in the electronics dept. and got kinda blubbery.  My job is done!!!  Isn't great how we can put a smile on someones face.  I love doing this kind of work.

Now for next week I have a birthday card coming up and another altered art project in the works.

Bright blessings for a wonderful Valentines Day!  Love and Hugs, Jana
