Fun with chalk

Hello everyone!  How is everyone?  Did you get some warm weather yet?  Here in Oregon this weekend, we are expecting warm weather Sunday and Monday.  Perfect weather to play with sidewalk chalk.  I have a little boys birthday card to share as my design team post for ScrappyDew Digital cutting files.  But of course lyrics first...

ScrappyDew digital file "Chalk The Walk"
~ScrappyDew Vault "Mouse Memories 2014" (gift tag)
~Silver Bullet 24" electronic die cutting machine
~Sure Cuts A Lot Software V4.044
~Who knows what brand of scrap paper
~Blue Raspbery Strips by Deja Views
~Miscellaneous tools
~My NEW We Are Memory Keepers Envelope board from Mary

For this card I used the center step card pattern provided by by Frances Byrns over at Splitcoast Stampers.  Gang, if you haven't visited SCS you are missing out on great tutorials and examples and so much more.  Go check it out.

So the Chalk the Walk file from ScrappyDew was a wonderful pick for the center step card format.  Very straight forward and left tons of room for decorating.  I kept it simple on the outside.  For the inside I found some labels of chalk paper and wrote my note in my chalk.  The little boy had just returned from his 1ST trip to where the mouse lives on the west coast so I made him a mouse gift tag using the Mouse Memories 2014 ScrappyDew file.  Turned out so cute.  Here are all the bit and pieces put together.

The front of the card, just love the background paper!

Here is the label

Here is his birthday persent
All wrapped up and ready to go across the street.
Now when Chase opened it, he knew exactly what it was.  He even asked "Jana, you come draw with me".  He is so cute.  So yes, I will be playing with sidewalk chalk this summer with the Chase man.  (give mommy some rest, he is 3 after all)

Hope you have enjoyed this weeks post.  I have an exciting announcement over on the Facebook page on May 9th.  Please join me for some fun to celebrate my birthday!

Bright blessings, Jana

Don't be dragon...

Hello and welcome to my humble blog.  Boy have I been busy.  Not with paper crafting, but with making bags for a certain stamping helper.  More on that later.  Todays card is very special to me.  It's for my good friend.  He just had a birthday the first part of March.  I couldn't post his card until his mom, Michelle, got her birthday present for the end of March.  Now my friend likes any type of card that has something that is interactive.  Let get the lyrics and you can see....

~ScrappyDew 2013 Knights digital file
~DCWV Embossed 12x12 solid stack
~American crafts blue and green for dragon
~Birthday Cake by be-jeweled (single 12x12 sheet)
~Light Blue small dot paper Core-dinations
~Balloon Stickers EKsuccess
~Letters by EKsuccess
~Silver Bullet 24" Electronic Cutter
~Sure Cuts A Lot Software SCAL V4.044

I wanted this card to wiggle.  I had a grand idea to put wire on the back of the balloon stickers so they would wiggle.  IT WORKED.  Interactive card.  I didn't have any problem with putting my little dragon together.  ScrappyDew patterns are easy to put together.

This is the front.  See the balloons wiggle.

The inside.  The birthday cake was on a 12x12 sheet
of clear plastic.  I cut it out and it worked great!

This is a side view of the front of the card.  You can see
how the balloons wiggle.
This card was warmly received by my dear friend.  I also sent along some puzzles that look super simple, but they are really hard and keep kids busy for quite a long time.

Now his mother, Michelle (yes our Michelle) had asked me quite a while back if I could make her a case for her MISTI.  This is what I came up with.
This is the outside

This is the inside.  It has a zippered pocket and an additional pocket.
Well Michelle said I should advertise that I make MISTI Bag.  They are $30 + Shipping.  If you are interested just email me.

This was one for my first customer.

Second Customer

So if you are interested please email me at jtfrrst@gmail.com or leave me a message on my facebook page Rhapsody On Paper.

That's it for this week.  The next project is a little ones 3rd birthday card and gift tag.

Rest in peace dear Sammie

Hi everyone.  Todays post is kinda sad.  My fellow ScrappyDew design team member Mary, gently helped her precious kitty Sammie cross the rainbow bridge last weekend.  Sammie was the coolest cat.  Mary could dress her up in baby clothes and would post pictures on Facebook.  When anyone looses a fur baby it is extremely hard.  So I thought I would make a sympathy card to send.  But first the lyrics...

~ScrappyDew Vault files Kitty Palz and Little Angels 2012
~Provo-Craft paper collection "Paw-sitive thinking" by Kristen Cook
~Cuttle bug and embossing folder swiss dots
~Recollections paper
~Fresco chalk ink pads
~Michaels Vellum sheets
~Aqua Stickles
~Momenta metal stickers/charms
~Ribbon (older than dirt)
~Silver Bullet Pro 24" cutter
~Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) V4.044
~and all the various items not including the kitchen sink (but I use that too)

Since I wanted to make the kitty look like Sammie, I got my ink pads out and my stippling brushes from way back.  Sammie was a Calico.  So this is how I inked the face and body.

It looks good!

I used black and golden brown.
Next I took a chance and printed my sentiment on an overhead projector transparency sheet.  I figured if it could withstand the heat of an over projecter then it probably would foil perfectly.  It did!
I found this verse on SCS site.
So here is the finished card.  So glad this went together so well.
The wings have aqua stickles.  The little charms move.

I will write something and send it off.

The envelope and the back of the card.

Now the next post will be April 16th.  I have some orders for MISTI carrying cases to get made and sent out (see the previous post).  So see ya later.  Bright blessings, Jana

Michelle's Birthday Present

Hello all.  Yes, it's not Saturday.  I'll have a post for tomorrow also.  But I had to brag about Michelle's Birthday Present.  She had asked me way back in February if I would make her a MISTI Stamping Tool carrier.  I hemmed and hawwed. Finally I found just the right fabric and just the right lining.  From there it was finding a pattern.  Went to Joanns and finally found the perfect one.  (of course, went I got home I found I had already purchased it and stuck it away.  i do this quite often)

Silly me, I did not take as many pics as I should have.  But let me tell you about the bag.  It's 8.5 by 11.  It has a carrying strap and some decorations on the front.  The inside has a zippered pocket and an additional open pocket.  I did use felt to add padding for protection.

Here are the pics...
This is the front of the bag

This is the inside.  Right above the zipper you can see the open pocket.

If by chance you would like your own MISTI stamping tool carrier, please email me at jtfrrst@gmail.com  You can also get ahold of me on Facebook either at Rhapsody on Paper or my personal page Jana Forrest.  We can discuss price + shipping and colors.

Thanks for looking.  Bright blessings, Jana
