Now for something a little different...

Merry Christmas eve to all my crafty friends.  Gosh this year sure has gone quickly.  Just another week and we usher in 2017.  I for one am hoping for a absolutely fabulous 2017.  It just feels right for a change!

Todays post is a card I made for my BFF Tamara.  In August she moved from Virginia to Arizona.  I have to confess, I am so happy that she is only a 2 day drive away.

To celebrate her move, I designed a Christmas card I think she will get a kick out of.  So here are the lyrics...

~Cowboy Kids 2012 from the ScrappyDew Vault
~Speciality paper Desert background
~Silver Bullet Cutter 24" Professional
~Sure Cuts A Lot Software V4.055
~Stampin Up Birthday presents stamp
~A LOT OF SCRAPS FROM THE SCRAP BOXES
~All the normal stuff I forget to add on here

So here is what I dreamed up.  I had to shrink down the cactus from the Cowboy Kids 2012 file.  And from there it was just making the lights and finishing the card.  I hope you like it.

This is the front of Tami's Card.

The inside.  I just love the fir tree paper.

The back of the card and a pretty silver glitter envelope.

That's it for this week.  I do not know if I will have a ScrappyDew post for next week.  But I will have some exciting news.  Thank you all for the very nice comments about the new blog last week.  Still fiddling with it but basically it's done.

Merry Christmas and Happy Yule!  bright blessings, Jana

DO NOT PANIC!!!

Yes, it's still the Rhapsody on Paper blog that you know and love.  But after 3 years, I was getting really tired of the old look.  So for the past 4 days (and a huge headache) I have a brand spanking new look.  I just love this.  The antique paper and the victorian feel are just perfect for the next step in my crafting.  That announcement will be coming after Christmas.

So for today, lets get some more Christmas cards from years past on display.  All these cards (well most of them) contain some element from the wonderful ScrappyDew.   So let the parade begin...

These are from Christmas 2014.

A whole bunch of reindeers.

I made 3 versions of Santa in 2014

2015 saw the addition of Christmas ornament cards.
This was added for 2015 also.
Needless to say, I have at least 2 years of Christmas cards to use up.  Next week I will have a new Christmas card to show you and then it's the big reveal.  Might be a contest in the works.

Have your best week ever, Bright blessings, Jana

Penguins, Penguins Penguins!

My crafty friends, just letting you know that this post was originally posted on 11-8-14.  But I think it's still a good Christmas card to inspire your crafting.  I will be posting more cards as we get closer to Christmas!  Bright Blessings and have your best week ever!  Jana

Welcome back to another episode of Rhapsody on Paper.  So very thankful that you chose to spend some time with me.  It just tickles my heart pink!

Well we had a very warm October.  The warmest on record for Oregon.  Then November 1st hit and wham, it got cold quick.  We got down in the low 40's last night.  My poor kitties are snuggling with mom and dad.

Now on to the first batch of 30 Christmas cards.  I have a bazaar the first weekend of December.  I am making bundles of 5 Christmas cards each and hope to have 20-25 bundles ready to sell.  I am thinking a price of $10 each bundle should work.  Everyone admires your work but won't pay what we all know it's really worth.

But first the lyrics...

~All cardstock is recollections
~The file is X-Mas Palz Collection that can be found in the ScrappyDew Vault area.
You really should check the vault area out.  Here is the link http://www.scrappydew.com/
~Background for the front of the card is giftwrap from Costco.

So now on to the Penguins.

Here I am!
Simple inside

A huge stack of Penguins

Now that really is a lot of Penguin Christmas cards.  Oh forgot to tell you the rubber stamp is by Studio G and I picked it up a couple of summers ago at Joann's.

And just for my loyal readers, I have a sneaky peek at the next batch of 30 Christmas cards....

Oh my deer, such a little sneeky peek....hee hee

So that's it for this week.  Back to the studio to create more Christmas goodness.  I hope you have a wonderful week.  Veterans Day is Tuesday.  So while so many have the day off, just remember our veterans.

Bright blessings, Jana

A look at Christmas Cards past, week 2

Hello all my crafty friends.  This week we are heading back to 2013 and another Christmas card.  I have used a file that may not be available.  It's called "Snowmanbrr" made by ScrappyDew.  I love the way this one turned out.  Pretty straight forward in going together.  I do make my Christmas cards in a assembly line fashion.  I put each part in an envelope and then each 35-40 cards are assembled starting with the body.

So here is this weeks cutie!

This is a real cutie.  Simple and fast to put together
in batches of 10 cards.
So that is it for this weeks look at past Christmas cards.  We have 3 more Saturdays to go.  Have your best week ever my friends.  Bright blessings, Jana

Christmas Card Inspiration

Hello all my crafty friends.  For the next few weeks I am going to be sharing some of the Christmas cards that I have made in past years.  Ok Ok...  I have so many projects going right now that I might not get finished until 2017..  Hey, I sent after Christmas cards last year and they were a BIG HIT!!!  So without further ado, here is the first installment of Christmas cards from years past.

Let's get started with the first year.  That would be 2013. (the original post is in the archive on the right hand side of the blog)  I had just started my card making odyssey.  I just love the way this one came to life.

If i remember correctly, this was a card
for my sister Tamara.

A little better view of the easel card.

Of course a Christmas card must have
a Christmas Envelope!!!
Hope that you have enjoyed this look back.  Next week some more of the past Christmas Cards.  I hope to have some pictures of what I am working on now too!  Have your most wonderful day, bright blessings, Jana

A belated birthday card.

The day before Halloween is my neighbor Cassie's birthday.  I knew she and her husband Chad would be trick or treating with their son.  I got the card done and then was completely shocked by their news.  Seems that we are going to have another addition to their family.  So I never got the card delivered.  Guess what I found under the couch...Cassie's birthday card.  I sheepishly carried it over.  But what I did not do is share it with my creative friends.

Welcome back to my blog!  So happy that you could stop by.  Let's list the lyrics...

~ScrappyDew Birthday Clowns 2015
~ScrappyDew 2010 Farm Package
     Clucks Chicken
~Diane J. Hook Papers
~DCWV Glitter Stack
~Font=Bira
~Silver Bullet Pro 24" cutter
~Sure Cuts A Lot V4.054 software
~**the stuff I always use every project**~

So here is the birthday card that I forgot.  Hope this gives you some ideas.

I just love the chickens.  The neighbors raised chickens
this spring and built a coop and I get fresh eggs!

She loved it.  That's it for this week.  Hope to have some cute name plates for my Thanksgiving table next week.  Take care and bright blessings, Jana

Some Stuffgiving decorations!

Hi everyone.  Did you all survive Halloween?  I actually had 28 little ones this year.  Much better than last year with only 1.  Well lets get started with what my friend Gunnar calls Thanksgiving, STUFFGIVING!!

I really needed something new for the mantel in the living room.  So I went looking in the ScrappyDew vault patterns.  I came up with Fall Time scarecrow 2012.  This file is adorable and not very time consuming.  I used mostly Recollections paper from Michaels.  I have the best luck cutting with it opposed to other paper from other stores.  I also used a file called Welcome Fall Palz 2012.
I just love that you can mix and match files to make just what you want.

No lyrics this week (time management issues) and if you have been following my blog, you pretty much know what I used.

Here is the Fall time Scarecrow 2012
This is the Welcome Fall Palz 2012

So this is what I came up with for the mantel.  It turned out really nice.
Hope everyone has a great week.  Bright Blessings, Jana

My friends Halloween card!

A few weeks back I copied down a phrase from an adorable Halloween card that I wanted to create for my friend, Gunnar.  So thats what I did.  Here are the lyrics...

*Witch hat treat box created by Michellemybellscreations.com

~SCAL 4.058 software
~Tools I grab from the top drawer of the tool chest

Here is the front!

This is the inside.

I wanted to show off the envelope.

I haven't heard if Gunnar has received his card yet.  But I have a feeling he will love it.  Have a great upcoming week my friends.  Bright Blessings, Jana

Halloween Treat Box

I am writing this Friday night.  We have strong winds and sideways rain for the valley tomorrow.  Might lose power, better safe than sorry.  Even the national news gave a quick blurb about the 2 tornadoes we had on the Oregon Coast this morning.  Saturday is forecasted to be even a worse storm.  Batten down the hatches!

I have to give a big shoutout to my friend Debs Smith.  She saved my bacon with a pattern for a popcorn box.  Debs saves the day.  Now on to the lyrics...

~Popcorn Box pattern sent by Debs Smith
~The Frankensteins 2015 (a vault file)
~Steampunk Spells by Graphic 45
~Red double sided tape
~Sure Cuts A Lot Software
~My Silver Bullet 24" Professional cutter
~Tonic Micropoint scissors
~Liquid Pearls (Lavender Lace)
~Micron #1 black pen
~Pebbles classic Chalk
~Spectrum Noir Colored Pencils

This was put together as a treat box for our family physician.  I made snickerdoodle cookies and filled the popcorn box.  Here is the finished box.

Front of Box

As you can see I used a lot of G45 paper.

Here she is, Mrs. Frankenstein.

And Mr. Frankenstein!

I made a pocket and a sort of gift tag with it.

This is how I wrapped the cookies.
The office staff and our doctor were thrilled to get this.  They all needed a pick me up for a Thursday afternoon.

That's it for this week.  I have 2 more popcorn boxes to make and a girly girl birthday card.  So for now, Bright blessings for the coming week!!!

Neighborly birthday

Hello all!  Today I have for you a birthday card that is out of this world.  I am terrible at creating manly cards.  But I think that this one fits the bill very well.  Here are the lyrics...

*Out of this world by ScrappyDew (Vault 2012)
     {I used the whole collection}
*DCWV The stardust stack
*Recollections scraps
*My Scrap Chick 5x7 card in a box svg file
*24" Silver bullet Cutter
*Sure Cuts A Lot v4.88
*KNK Zing and Make the cut software
*All the basic tools we all use daily

Here is the card that I created for Chads birthday.

The 5x7 card in a box finished.

I just love this paper.  DCWV Stardust stack.

This paper is also from the Stardust Stack.

The outside of finished card.

Other side of finished card.

The left side flap.

Right side flap.

The finished front of card.

And the back where I will write a short note.
I must tell you, Chad was amazed at his card.  So happy he liked it.  Good neighbor relations are a must have in my book.

Now I will be off until October.  I have a lot of sewing and crocheting to get done
for my daughters birthday celebration.  It's the first week of October.  I will be able to show and share everything when she opens everything.  So for now, bright blessings for the rest of the month, see you soon, Jana.

Don't forget your stamps!

Hi everyone!  This week lets start with the lyrics and then have a photo blog post.  I took pics of each step for this weeks bundle of cards.

~ScrappyDew digital cutting file called "Spring has sprung"
~Bird Houses from Stampin Up 1996
~Flower cart stamp from Stampendous 1995
~Spectrum Noir Color Pencils and alcohol markers
~DCWV Textures Stack 180
~KNK Zing and Make the Cut software
~and a whole bunch of other stuff I didn't write down.

Here come all the pics....
Let's get this show on the road.  I am using the
Windows XP computer that was Bob's.
He recently purchased 2 Dell's.  As you can see
I am using Make the Cut software.
Here is little Zenith Zing.  This was my first cutter.
She looks so little compared to the Silver Bullet.

These are the stamps that I have been wanting to
use for a long time.  I stamped them using
StazOn Jet black.  Used my embossing heat tool
to set the ink.  (won't smudge that way)

I spent an afternoon coloring each stamp.  Then made
5 copies of the hand colored sheet.
This is why I used my Zenith Zing and MTC.  I wanted to
use the Print N Cut feature.  (Still haven't figured it out in SCAL4)
From the 5 copies, I PNC each sheet.  Giving me
5 bundles of Bird Houses and Flower Cart!
I wanted to make cards in a box. These are the
colors I picked out.
This is plastic from a 2ltr pop bottle.  Cut the top and
bottom off.  Try to straighten out the plastic that is left.
Cut into 2" strips.  Cut strips into 1/4 inch strips.  I then glued
a plastic stick to the back of each of the bird houses, flower card and
the blue bird from the SD File "Spring has Sprung".
These are the final result.  All 5 card are done.
let me show you how they turned out!
"A little bird told me. I missed your birthday."
Happy Birthday.  This is the phrase that I put
on each card.  This is the left side.
This is the right side.
This is the finished card in all it's glory.
The little blue bird is my favorite bird to use.  It
is from the Spring has Sprung file by Scrappy Dew!
Here is a better view.
These are all the envelopes.

That was my big project for the week.  The cards are even addressed and ready for the mail tomorrow.  I hope the recipients enjoy them (and I get out of the dog house)!

I hope to have a man's birthday card to show you for next week.  Then the rest of September I will be sewing several items for my daughters birthday.  I will post pics as I get them done.

Have a blessed upcoming week, Jana
