Being Neighborly

I have two sets of neighbors that are the BEST.  The neighbor across the street has a birthday the day before Halloween.  I would image that growing up, she got a lot of cards that were themed Halloween.  I didn't want to do that.  So I have created a birthday girl with a great quote.  So let's see the lyrics...

~ScrappyDew High School Girl
This pattern is only available in the Vault.  If you haven't checked out Vault     membership you really should.
~HOTP Blossoms on Aqua paper
~HOTP Purple Flowers
~Graphic 45 Mystical Masterpiece
~Graphic 45 Jasmine Nights
~Printed ribbon
~Heart Brads
~Sticky Gems
~My Silver Bullet 24" Pro Cutter
~Sure Cuts a Lot Software
~Foil Master & purple and red foil
~straight edge, needle nose tweesers, scissors, 3M super 77 spray adhesive, brad splitter, and thanks to MountainChill radio station that can be found on facebook.

This birthday card went together very quickly.  Nothing hard or fancy about it.  Just zip, zip and zip.  So here it is....

The front
The inside

The back
She really got a kick out of it.  Of course I was delivering a Halloween treat also.  Here is what I made for both neighbor families...

I found this idea on my FB wall back in July/August.  They are chocolate cupcakes
decorated with white chocolate pretzels and marshmallows.
So that's it for this week.  I wish you have a wonderful Halloween weekend.  I am finishing up the bazaar cards and starting Christmas cards for myself.  See you back here next week!

Bright blessings, Jana

A friendly skeleton!

Hey how are you doing?  It's Saturday and I have a card for a young man.  I try to make a card for special days and surprise him with mail.  So for Halloween, and since I know he likes skeletons I have made him a dancing skeleton card.  It was really fun and quick to make.  Here are the lyrics...

~ScrappyDew Skeleton 2013 Freebie in the Vault
~ScrappyDew Halloween Phrases 2014
~ScrappyDew Cute Halloween 2014
~Silver Bullet Pro 24" Cutter
~Sure Cuts A Lot V4 Software
~Recollections Paper
~3M Super 77 spray adhesive
~Offray Ribbon
~DCWV Halloween Stack
~DCWV Glitter Stack
~Heidi Grace Sugar Rush 12x12 (envelope)
~and all the little items I use every time I craft and never keep track of.

I started out with making the very cute little ghost for the front of the card.  But then, I remembered that ScrappyDew had an adorable skeleton file.  Perfect for my friend.  So I made the skeleton and just jazzed up the front of the card.  Put the ghostie on the inside with the Halloween Phrase "Happy Halloween".  Just a very fast and cute card for him.  So here is what I came up with...

The front of the card.

Inside bottom

The back

The envelope
Can't wait to hear what he thinks of the card.  So that is all for this week.  Next week, if all goes correctly, I will have two Halloween cards for my neighbor children and maybe treat toppers also.  Have a wonderful week.  Bright blessings, Jana

Owl O'ween.....

Hello everyone!

Yes, I know that today is Sunday.  I had a medical issue that needed to be taken care of and fell behind in my schedule.  But here I am, with a big bunch of Owl O'ween cards to share.  Here are the lyrics...

~ScrappyDew Scare-Crows 2013 (tree)
~ScrappyDew R.I.P. Owls
~Sure Cuts A Lot library crescent moon
~Recollections paper scraps
~DCWV Glitter stack
~Neenah Creative Collection paper Metallic
~Personalized by You Jeweled Halloween Tombstone stickers
~Offray Micro Spool Halloween Ribbons
~Make The Cut Software
~KNK Zing electronic cutter
~Sure Cuts A Lot V4
~Silver Bullet Electronic Cutter 24"
~Foil Master Machine
~Samsung Mono Laser Printer
~Target Halloween Confettii Bats
~Font Eckmann

Well it took 2 cutters and 2 different software programs to complete these cards.  As you might have guessed, I still haven't figured out the print and cut with SCAL4.  I'll get there but the project needed to be completed.  Here is a little tip....
When using paper piecing, I put each element into an envelope.  (all the hats in one, all the faces in another, so on and so on)  Then it is like an assemby line.  It goes so much faster for me, rather than completing one card and moving on to the next.  I start my cards from the back to the front.  The back has my information and a little Best Witches stamp.  The inside is where I used my Zing for print and cut.  The tag is a shape I have had forever.  I laser printed the Happy Owl O'ween and foiled it purple.  Put on some of the orange confetti.  The outside went like this.  Background paper from DCWV Halloween Stack, the silver crescent moon, tree, bats and finally the R.I.P. Owl file.  So here they are, all 18 of them!!!

Here they all are

A little closer view

So there you have it.  My Halloween cards are done except for the envelopes (which I will cut this afternoon)  More Halloween coming your way next week.

Bright Blessings for the coming week!  Jana

It's my baby's birthday!

Yes it's Saturday so I have another card to share.  This one is for my daughter Mina.  My little one is 21+ today.  Each year I try to make handmade stuff for birthdays.  Could be an pie, cake, birthday card which is a given.  Home made cards are so personal.  You can pick out each and every element.  So here are the lyrics to the 2015 Mina birthday card...

~Scrap Factory Doll Builder program
     Body-Closed Toes
     Hair-Jupiter
     Outfit-Just Girls #2
~Dew Drops Facial Expression Set #2
~Sure Cuts A Lot V4
~Silver Bullet Pro 24"
~Creative Haven Art Deco Ladies coloring Book
(I can email you the colors used if requested)
~Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante, Steampunk Spells, Bohemian Bazaar tag board
~Orange Nylon net for legs (orange fishnet stockings)
~Printed paper scraps for Just Girls #2 outfit
~Mark Andrews purse sticker
~My personal handwriting
~and all the bits and pieces that I could list but I wouldn't remember all of them

My daughter growing up had very curly reddish brown hair and I would put it in pig tails just to keep it under control.  So of course the front of the card has a little girls wearing pig tails with an outfit that sure looks like one I made her.  She still has a passion for purses and I just happened to have a shaker sticker that was a purse.  The brad at the top is from Joanns clearance a couple of years ago.

The front.  The tag and flower are G45.

The lady on the inside of the card is Art Deco Lady coloring image from Creative Haven that I bought at Hobby Lobby.  I colored it using my Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers and I also used my small set of Prismacolor colored pencils.

Her she is all colored

I still haven't learned to Print and Cut in SCAL4 so I used
Zenith Zing to first reduce the size and
then do a PNC.  That is a very detailed cut.

Here she is in all her glory on the inside of the card.

This is the right inside panel.  Flowers are G45 and
the pocket with the slider tag is also.
So the presents are wrapped.  The Anniversary card from last week and the birthday card today are on top.  (she took after her grandmother and got married on her birthday)  I can't share pics of what is in the boxes yet as we are celebrating on Sunday with a trip to the casino for brunch and bingo.

Waiting for the birthday gal!
Next week I can show you what is in the boxes.  (i promise)  So it's getting down to the wire for the cards for the bazaar.  So you may be seeing those projects in the next few posts.

Bright blessings for now, Jana

Halloween themed anniversary!

You made it!  So happy that you could join me for another Saturday post.  This week I have an anniversary card for my daughters 6th wedding anniversary.  Gosh, where has the time gone?

A while back, on a Tuesday Morning run in January, I found all the Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells paper, stickers, tag board and even the stamps.  So I have been saving it for my very favorite holiday of the year Halloween.  ScrappyDew came out with the cutest files for Halloween.  But first the lyrics...

~ScrappyDew file "The Frankensteins 2015"
~Dew Drop Stamps
     Facial Expressions set 1 & 2
~Recollections Scraps
~Best Witches Stamp
~Graphic 45 Steampunk Spells collection
     Stickers, Tags and papers
~Font DorovarFLFCarolus
~Envie G45 witching hour
~Sure Cuts A Lot 4
~Silver Bullet 24" Pro cutter

It took me a while to come up with a design that I liked.  But when I put it together I think it works well.  Nothing fancy, just straight forward card making.  Here is the result...

The front.  Gotta love the love potion #45

The inside.

This was a fun one to make.  Next week I have the birthday card for my daughter to share.
This week ScrappyDew released a new SCAL4 Class.  This is a class from the beginning to the more advanced.  Here is a link....Sure Cuts A Lot -ScrappyDew Classroom  This is a fantastic program.  I have learned so many new things about SCAL4.  Give it a look, I think you will be pleased.

Please remember the victims of the UCC shooting in your prayers.  It was only 100 miles away from where I live.  So it really hit close to home.  Hug your kids a little tighter.  I just want to know why?????

Bright blessings, Jana
