Got to love little yellow guys!!!

Did you hear a big squeal about 2 weeks ago?  That was just little old me squealing about the new ScrappyDew little yellow guys file.  I love those little guys.  (never have saw the movie)  Our shop manager(claimed as our son also) has a real affection for minions.  So what better way to celebrate his birthday than with a minion card (plus a huge stuffed apple pie that I am making on Sunday).  So lets see those lyrics...

~ScrappyDew Little Yellow Guys file #1, #2 and #3
~ScrappyDew Bear Clowns file #11 and #12
~DCWV Timeless Texture Stack
~Various glitter and mirrored papers
~That's Scrap Foil Master (used as a laminator)
~Silver Bullet 24" Pro die cutting machine
~Sure Cuts A Lot V.4
~All the normal supplies and I use quilting rulers also!

The outside of the card is very straight forward.  But I wanted something special for the inside.  So I made the banners from the Bear Clowns file plus an additional one.  Cut the letters and put them on.  For the extra banner, Duane's name fit perfectly.   I wanted them to be able to bend and stand up for all that bending.  So I got out my trusty Foil Master and laminated each one.  Folded each with a bone folder.  So here is what I created!!!  Enjoy!

Minions are messy eaters.

Can you see how the banner pops out in the center
of the card.  The Little Yellow Guys are holding the balloons
that hold the banners!

And a race car for the back!

So that's it for this week.  Next week I have a birthday card that will also be my card for Halloween this year!  Love double duty cards.

Hope your coming week is absolutely fabulous!  Bright Blessings, Jana

Setting Sail!

Good Day!  Welcome to Rhapsody On Paper.  For today's post I have a birthday card for my hubby.  Besides being able to repair anything, he loves to fish.  He has had the boat for a long time.  Due to neglect at a storage place, he has completely re-wired and re-fitted the inside. Now it's time for the outside.  Just last weekend his 'crew' came and started the process of painting.  Da boat is looking marvelous.  Still not quite time for sea water yet but a lot closer than last year.

For his birthday I have made a card featuring the sea and a lighthouse.  Here are the lyrics...

~ScrappyDew Lighthouse files #2, 3 and 4
~Font Black Jack regular
~Recollections scraps
~DCWV Glitter stack
~K&C0. Sealife stack
~Silver Bullet 24" cutter
~Foil Master
~SureCutsALot v4

So the Lighthouse file is scaled down to fit on a 6x6 card base.  I do this before anything else.  This way I keep the proportions correct.  Then it's just a matter of putting the card together.  I had written down the phrase on the inside front cover a few months ago and used it.  Being able to foil the letters is awesome.  So here is the finished card.

The front with our boat in the waves

Inside front cover

The entire inside of card

The back

I sure hope he enjoys this.  I have a filet mignon dinner planned with pumpkin pie. And I bought him the movie "American Sniper".  I'll let you know the results...

Next week, I have a Minion birthday card for Duane.  Duane is the shop manager and considered our son.  After that, who knows.

Have a wonderful week!  Bright blessings, Jana

Christmas in July

Hi and welcome back!  I have a Christmas in July post for this Saturday.  I participate in one bazaar.  It's the Holiday House Bazaar in Newport, Oregon.  Here is a link to the Facebook page for Holiday House.  This will be my 3rd year.  I thought I would be really smart and get Michelle to remind me to start in July.  (hence the Christmas in July celebration was launched) Now I want my cards to really show off my work.  BUT.....

I thought you might like to see what I do before I get into assembly line mode.  I prototype each card idea first.  That means putting together items and seeing how they look.  So here is what I have came up with for the first prototype card.  Lyrics Please.....

~ScrappyDew's All Tangled Up file
~ScrappyDew's Oh Deer file
~Recollection card stock
~Silver Bullet Pro 24"
~Foil Master
~Scal v4.0
~there is probably the kitchen sink around here somewhere

When I prototype, there are mistakes and blotches.  These are not cards that I feel comfortable sending out.  But for trying things out, they are perfect.  I don't know if other design team members show the samples but we all have them.

So here we go.

All the elements

The foil didn't adhere correctly, extra foil on merry christmas, had to correct
a spot on the blue paper and it didn't work

What the front of the card will be

The foil mistake came off so the inside is perfect.
Do I do this for all my cards?  No.  Most of the cards are great the first time.  But give me a huge order and I will always make a sample.

Hope that this has shown you that I make mistakes and goofs quite regularly.

Next week I have my hubbys birthday card to share.  It's a doozie!

Bright blessings, Jana

There is a new superhero around.....

Is it a bird?  Is it a plane?  Who remembers those famous words?  Saturday morning cartoons featuring the Super Hero's?  Yes I am dating myself but I still watch the old cartoons if I have a chance.

It's Saturday and it's a very special Saturday at that.  Happy Independence Day.  Celebrating our freedoms.  IMHO there is NO greater place to live than in the United States of America!

Today is also the day of my posting this weeks project.  Today let me introduce you to a new superhero that I have created (she will be showing up occasionally).  Her name is...

Super Crafty Girl
She always carries a glue bottle and has her trusty scissors on her utility belt.  She has the power to help you create perfect projects!  Your vinyl won't have bubbles and your foil with stick the very first run (i don't know her very well yet, so we will discover what else she can do).  So she is part of this weeks project but let's do the lyrics first...

No open toes, Hair=Michelle, outfit=girl costume #2, Accessories=Tiara #2, scissors and    Glue bottle
~Color Bok Pattern Pak Pastels
~Deja Views My Story Fresh Verse Vellum
~Recollections 12 x 12
~Fonts Ampersand and Black Jack Regular
~And a whole lot of other stuff that I use all the time and forget to mention

This was the first true test of my new Foil Master that my bestie Michelle sent me.  The previous blog post show the machine and some of the hits and misses.  So I thought I had the foil figured out.  The foil from That's Scrap is so much superior to that of 'other' brands out there.  But Joanns had all the Heidi Swapp Minc products on clearance (hmmm).  I couldn't pass it up.  So I am using the Minc foil also.

Cut and put together Super Crafty Girl and started on the backgrounds.  Over at SheryK, she graciously puts together borders that if you reference the video in the lyrics, you can make a frame.  So that's what I did.  Printed the frame using my laser printer.  Then using the patio door, lined up my background paper on the printed sheet.  I think I need a light table.  Soooo much easier.  I used two colors of foil.  The purple is That's Scrap and the mint green is MINC.  One pass with the purple and 4 with the MINC at the highest setting on the Foil Master.  Then it was just putting the card together.  Easy Peasy.

So here are my final results.

So that is what I came up with.  3rd times the charm because this card kicked my butt the first 2 times.  I just have to say it looks wonderful.  If you have questions about anything ask away.

This month over in Facebook land, ScrappyDew is celebrating CHRISTMAS in July.  So I may have a Christmas card bundle to share.

Have a very safe and happy 4th of July.  Bright blessings, Jana
