It's a "40" likes on Facebook post....

Hello everyone, welcome to a Thursday post.  With Halloween coming up this Friday, I had 2 personal Dia de los Muertos cards to get out.  I have a life long love of coloring.  Did you know that many craft stores carry coloring books for adults? I didn't until this summer on an excursion to Craft Warehouse in Salem.  I picked up 3 of them, mostly for Zentangle (which I still as yet have not started).  The one I used for the card is this.

Next step is to color.  I made several copies on heavy Georgia Pacific 110# white card stock which you can find at Walmart.  I made several because I keep one for the final coloring and the others are to test colors on.  So here is what I came up with for the final and then I shrunk it down to fit on an A2 cards.

I scanned the reduced skull into MTC and did a print and cut.  (I wasn't about to hand cut this one)  Next I started the card design portion of this project.  Here is what I came up with for the official cards to send to loved ones.

This inside is the same for each cards.  I did a modified print and cut using Make the Cut (MTC) software.

So how's that for a Monday post?  I hope to do more posting as the Christmas bazaar cards start to get finished.

May you have special memories fill you on Dia de los Muertos!

Bright blessings, Jana

Cards for two cuties!

Hello and welcome to the final post for Halloween 2014 (really, it is...).  I have been blessed with two neighbor children who are adorable!  One is 4 going on 5 and the other is just 18 months and cute as a bugs ear.  I thought I would make them special cards and then a special treat for this Halloween.  I did NOT put any sparkles on either card, but they still turned out super cute.  But first the lyrics...

~  From Scrappy Dew I have used Costume Kidz 2. The Owl and the Dog.
~  Halloween paper from DCWV Halloween Stack
~  Recollections paper
~  ATG by Scotch
~  Quail feathers (found on clearance at Joanns)

These are very simple and straight forward in they way they go together.  For the older boy I took a chance and used the quail feathers.  The little one is going to wear a costume that his aunt wore at his age.  So here they are....

See the quail feathers?

I think I just might make a couple of bag toppers and put wrapped candy inside.  And that's a wrap for Halloween 2014.  It was fun but I am already working on cards for the bazaar the first weekend of December.  So check back weekly and see what I come up with.

May you have a wonderful Halloween, Samhain and Dia de la Muertos!  Bright blessings as the wheel turns...Jana

Boo part 2

It's fall y'all!  But here in my little corner of the world it has been dreary.  The rainy season is here and that means not seeing the sun for weeks at a time.  BUT here in my craft room it is bright and sunny.  Time to share another BOO decoration with you.

The first BOO decoration went to my DIL's mom for her birthday.  Well, the kids wanted one also so here is what I came up with.  First off the lyrics...

~ Mix of Recollections and yucky paper in the shades I needed
~ ScrappyDew file Garden Gnomes 2013
~ ScrappyDew file Zombies 2013
~ ScrappyDew file Wizard 2013
~ Silhouette Tag Board
~ Various Inks for edging
~ Halloween paper from Paper Wishes
~ My new toy. a ATG by 3M

My DIL loves Zombies and my daughter loves garden gnomes.  So I put my thinking cap on and came up with zombie gnomes!!!  I took bits of the garden gnome file and using MTC resized the pieces to fit on the zombie shapes.  A little inking of the edges and here is what I came up with.

The "O"

(sorry for the heavy pics)  Now here is the total completed project!

Many years ago, my kids found a rowen broom that was scented with cinnamon at of all places Trader Joes.  Strange Jana fact #1:  I collect witches and faeries and anything that fits in with this theme.  So a broom made out of Rowen fits right in!

Hope that you have enjoyed your visit today.  I just might have a couple more posts of Halloween projects before Sanhaim (last minute ones).  Then I will definitely be on to Christmas cards for the bazaar!

Until next week, Bright Blessings, Jana

Just spinning by!

Hey ya'll!  I have a very quick and cute Halloween card to share with you today.  I have just fell in love with spinner cards.  This is going to a friend who loves to get mail.  Not real fancy but loaded with fun.

Here are the lyrics~~

I used ScrappyDew's file called Spider Web.  It can be found in the vault.

All the papers are Recollections

The spinner is made up of foam circles and 2 nickles.

Used the file created by Kreative Ken.  He has amazing ideas!

So here is what I came up with...

Isn't this spider just the cutest!
I'll write a short note later

Short sweet and to the point.  I might have one more Halloween project to share.  To tell ya the truth, I have already switched gears.  I am in full on christmas mode.  I am doing a bazaar the first weekend in December.  I decided to make sets of Christmas cards.  5 cards to each set.  I want to make 20 sets so that is 100 cards if my math is correct.  I have to get going on these.

So my friend, take care.  The rainy season is almost here and boy howdy am I ready.

Halloween floating candles

Hello everyone!  I have to show you what I have been up to.  With Halloween right around the corner, I needed to get my decorations up.  Last year I created a doozie project using files from ScrappyDew.  All these files can be bought on the website.  It was a mantel project.  Here is what I came up with.

These stored great and look fantastic!
This year I wanted to make the illusion of floating candles like in the first Harry Potter movie when the kids walk into the great hall.  I wanted to create floating candles to decorate my windows.  What to use?????  I had bought battery operated Halloween candles last year at Costco.  So how in the heck could I get them to look like they are floating???  Here is what I came up with.

Plastic clear soap dishes from Walmart!!!

I bought 8 of these at Walmart.  I always have a fall cleaning. (getting ready for decorating for the holidays)  So I got out the window cleaning supplies and washed all the windows inside and out.  Now to the decorating.  I put one soap dish in each of my street facing windows.  Set a candle in each one.  Here are the daylight pics.

My craft room window

So now to see if they look good at night.  Of course, I had to wait until it got dark outside.  I don't take the best photos outside but you can see the effect.

Front room
craft room and bed room
The whole house

Now I know that it's not like the great hall.  But I think it turned out pretty snazzy.  The younger kids in the neighborhood will get a kick out of this.  Hope I have inspired you to think outside of the box this Halloween.  Until Saturday....

Flip flopping away!

I had a very BIG deadline to meet this week.  My daughters birthday is being celebrated on Saturday and I had projects to get done.  For the past few years, I have got my old Singer sewing machine out and made a new purse for her to use.  Well, this year I went overboard on the pattern.  The pattern is from Sew Sweetness and is called the Kennedy Bag.  The pattern is free to download.  I got this pattern 6 weeks ago and immediately started looking for the hardware.  Couldn't find any that didn't have to ship from the east coast or China.  Finally, Craft Warehouse came to my rescue!  I had already gotten the material at Joanns.  Let the bag making begin!  Here are some pics.

The front of the bag

It has a big zippered pocket

Also a big divided pocket

OK bag is completed.  Next is the birthday card.  ScrappyDew to the rescue.  I used a file called Sunshine and Summertime 2014.  Now a few weeks back, my fellow dewette Kreative Ken of KenKreations posted the file and instructions on how to make a slider card using two pennies.  Well I had to give this a go.  I wanted spinning flip flops for the card.  But first here are the lyrics.

Recollections Paper 12x12, various scraps, Petaloo glitter stack, round 3D sticky foam dots and of course 2 bright shiny pennies.

So lets travel to the beach see the birthday card.

The flip flops spin across the card

Just love the inside!
(sorry I do not know how to do video's yet, it's on my list)  I think she will get a big kick out of this card.  One last little project for her birthday.  I had bought some composition books at Costco a while back.  I found some really cute Duck Tape.  I covered the inside and outside with it and presto chango a really cute journal complete.  I stuck it in the bag and wrapped them together.
Outside
inside
A couple of shirts and a big round carousel of gel pens and her birthday celebration can begin.  Heading to the casino tomorrow for some bingo action and all you can eat seafood buffet.  (i get the clam chowder, then get some salad shrimp and dump them in the chowder)

So danged happy that you could come visit my little corner of the blog-o-sphere today.  Oh, if you happen to hear a very excite scream, it's just me finally getting my first bingo!!!
